We were AMAZED by Eleganza's Crystal Stone 2.0

Until we realized the real cost of choosing this beautiful solid surface countertop…

(and if you don't know what Crystal Stone 2.o is, here's a link to the specs of this material…)

How We Discovered Crystal Stone 2.0

One of our clients had asked us if we could fabricate this new material that we had never heard of… The fabricator we were working with at the time told us “we can cut anything, just bring it by… ” (famous last words by the way LOL)

In discussing with the client what the material was, we assumed this was just a variation of a solid surface countertop…

crystal stone 2.0And that we'd have no issues…

We were wrong…

(By the way, this isn't a diss for Eleganza's Crystal Stone 2.0 product, just the facts…)

The countertop is more along of the lines of solid glass and requires special blades and/or a water jet cutting system…

The blades to cut Crystal Stone 2.0 run about $500/ea and after doing more research, fabricators out in the Los Angeles area (where this particular client was located) were wanting upwards of $95/sqft JUST FOR THE LABOR TO FABRICATE AND INSTALL…

They would look up the specs, and pretty much charge and arm and a leg because they didn't want to touch the material in fear of being liable for it breaking on their watch…

Long story short, we didn't end up using the material, and the client with with Zeus White Extreme quartz countertops… (which for me, was a much better value for the client…)

What Makes Crystal Stone 2.0 So Expensive To Install?

In a nutshell…

Crystal Stone 2.0 is pretty much solid glass…

And with the wrong blade (which we unfortunately learned) will break VERY easily…

The material also has a reputation for breaking even with the correct blade…

Cutting with a water jet system seemed to be the safest method of fabrication that we found, but it comes at a price… So if you've got the budget for it, go for it…

Crystal Stone 2.0, after all, is beautiful…

And I dont want to discourage you from purchasing it for your countertops…

This is just simply to give you a heads up on what you cant expect…
